For all the mothers, whether it is your first baby or third, raising a new-born baby is a challenging thing. One needs to be prepared for the first few weeks with the new-born babies. Everyone has the different experience with their little ones. We have shared some common issues new mothers might face in the initial days. No matter you have the luxury hospital for maternity; you need to be prepared for this phase. You have to master few skills until your little one step into your world.

Get your essentials ready before reaching the home with the new one

Many moms miss this step as they are more excited for their kid. The basic thing is to get you prepared few weeks in advance. You should have the following list of products like diapers, blanket, burp rag, bottles, breast pad, nipple ointment, doughnut pillow, newborn baby clothes, etc. These are few necessary things which you will need to survive the first week.

The first bath

The common issue is how to give the bath to your little one. There is no need to get nervous, keep calm and handle the situation. Give a nice sponge bath if you are not sure how to carry a baby. You can learn the bathing technique from the nurse.

Recovering from the labour

Don’t panic, it takes some time to recover from labour. You are going to be normal, be patient. With time you will regain all the strength and heal completely. Give some time to your body.

Sleeping problem

Although your little one sleeps as much as 20 hours a day, it is going to distract you every time you feed him. The common solution to deal with this is to cover your nap while your baby is sleeping. You can also trade off some time with your husband or family member or babysitter. For few hours they keep a watch on child and you can take a sound sleep for few hours.

Baby environment

For first few weeks your infant is still having a feel of the womb. He/she might crave for cosy and comfortable holding from a mother. For 24 hours your little one was at the baby delivery hospital until that your baby is fine. But the moment you hold the baby, your little one craves for your holding 24/7. To overcome this situation, you can create a comfortable temporary bedding to make him feel cosy.

Feeding

Breastfeeding is a natural process however your doctor or nurse will guide you for this. You can also ask your genealogist for latching, positioning and milk supply.

Get family members involved

Raising a baby is not your job alone. You need family and friends support. The best support you can get is from baby’s dad. Being a mother doesn’t mean that you will do the entire task and become superwomen.

Let daddy spend some time with the baby so that he feels comfortable with the baby. Let daddy also enjoy the baby time.
