We must shun street foods for our better health

Though the concern over the street food was expressed in a coastal state of Goa, its adverse effect lays a hand on every state of the country. It was certainly not the first time that such type of stern warning was strongly brought up. What needs to be heeded was the importance of the point.

What had been raised in Goa was applicable to all the states. Goa’s urban development minister Francis de Souza said that street food was a major cause of illness and that was causing a problem all over the world. It was not only limited to India. It was more found in our country because we were totally dependent on the street food.

Even the UNO’s World Health Organisation had regarded the street food as unhealthy. Endorsing this view he also pointed out that that was the easiest way of catching all sicknesses, illnesses in accordance with ideas of the world body.

He even suggested people avoid street food as far as possible. His advice was vital for everyone who was drawn to such an easy food. Every city’s municipal official should take a drive against the sale of eatables in the open.

This enlightened word of warning was quite timely during the summer season. Each of us had with ease appreciated the important caution given to the careless denizens which were definitely required for becoming more focused on our health.
