What is sustainable development and what are sustainable development goals?

Ever imagined if the world will be able to meet the present needs without replenishing the needs of future? Well, that’s possible with the optimum implementation of sustainable development. This process is phenomenal and the application has to be continuous. In the entire process, the stability of nature should not be affected. Particularly speaking about the amenities provided to the people living in the remote areas are minimal. These needs can be exposed to development if sustainable development is taken into consideration.

The poor health care system, sanitation facilities or any other amenities can be dealt with if the concept of sustainable development is carried out in a pragmatic way. Nagrik Foundation understands the dire need of implementing the sustainable development goals for the betterment. This is the very reason behind carrying out various social welfare activities by the team for empowering them.

It is often seen that economic and development changes have always emerged. These changes should be initiated in an appropriate manner which demands sustainable development. The significant implications which are taken by the Govt. in the form of goals or development plans are divided evenly.  In the year 2017, there were 83 national surveys which took place in order to re-define the sustainable goals. Over 7 million people were a part of these surveys to draft the sustainable goals. In the year 2015, it was witnessed that 836 million people still live in poverty.

Nagrik Foundation supports the idea of UN to attain the goals of sustainable development and all its activities are based on upliftment of society. The following actions are primarily focused on achieving success worldwide when it comes to collating the goals of sustainability:

Connected for a common goal:

Most of the sustainable goals are interconnected and they invoke success. These goals may be related to sustainable consumption, education, peace, justice, innovation and eradicating other inequalities are multiple. However, they are linked to each other as they head towards success,  it is possible to achieve all the 17 goals of UN pertaining to sustainable development in totality. All the nations target these goals to be accomplished over the span of 15 years. If these goals are seen in totality, success will be the ultimate outcome.

UNDP’s role is considered among the top priorities of Nagrik Foundation. This Indian foundation ensures that social awareness regarding sustainable development goals is spread. With the help of its real-time facts, it helps the society in attracting an enlightened future.

Right to medical services made simplified

It has been often witnessed that medical services are not granted to every section of the society. In certain cases, vaccination is not accessible by a few segments of the society. These people have the right to healthcare services, but, due to certain conditions, they don’t enjoy the same. This handicap is being removed by the healthcare provision of UNDP. Over 716 million people stay in rural areas and are susceptible to chronic health diseases.

After taking into account the above factors, Nagrik Foundation is supporting the UNDP’s sustainable development goals to make the world a better place to live in!
