Writing Is Like An Organ In My Body

Life has bestowed me with some gifts full of happiness and some unwanted situations creating trouble for me. Being happy over small things and also getting annoyed quite easily is part of my daily life.

When I was a kid, I would minutely watch each and everything going on around me and not utter a single word if something seemed unusual. Whenever I would get angry, I would often try to jot down my feeling on paper, but every time I would either burn the paper or hide it somewhere. I was afraid of the fact that someone would come to know about me and my inner thoughts.

Years have passed. The anger and frustration is still inside me. The most important thing that affects me is the patriarchal nature of our society. Being a political science student, my area of study forced me to express my feelings and take a stand of my own in society. From there the journey finally began. One day, I gathered all my strength and started writing down my feelings and viewpoints. After some days, I heard of Youth Ki Awaaz and I started publishing my articles and poems here.

“Takdeer par bharosa rha na tha, par shabdon ne saath nibhayaa, shayad isliye hi aaj kalam ne apne jadoon se, duniya mein khada hona sikhayaa (I had no faith in my destiny, but words stood by me. Perhaps that’s why the pen has shown its magic today and taught me how to stand up for myself).”

Writing is now an essential organ in my body without which I cannot survive. It’s my medicine to face each and every challenge of my life fearlessly. I could now stand in front of all and express myself even on those evil elements and taboos of our society that people hesitate to speak about. I still remember the day when I stood against my own relatives who took dowry in form of gifts even when they are well-off. Writing has proved that pen is powerful than a sword and it is a key to change.
