What Nature Can Teach Us About Mental Health

Mental health can roughly be communicated as one’s state of mind with respect to situations a person finds themselves in and which influences the kind of decision one takes in the aforementioned situation.

People usually choose to close their senses or shy away from situations. Mental health isn’t a ‘bad’ topic for discussion. Human beings can’t always be classified into neat categories of black and white. Rather, human beings are constantly changing. Each individual has their own stories of ups and downs and constantly changing mental health.

Going with the flow, we can compare mental health to the intricacies and beauties of nature. Consider each season, each sunrise, each sunset, each movement of the wave as being related to a human’s life and stages of development, including mental health.

Thus, as our knowledge is always expanding from minute-to-minute due to social media and the internet, maybe we have lost that what comes naturally to us. We are concerned with proving ourselves and fitting in. We are afraid of being wrong or having an opinion of one’s own, lest it be ‘wrong’.  We end up with a pocketful of labels and feelings of inferiority.

We need to relax and take a break from the urge to bifurcate everything into true and false. Take a deep breath and observe what’s going on around you, understand nature, learn from it. You can indulge in practical things, talk to new people, take a drink, tip and trail, sell a take, listen to stories and folklore. Work on yourself, towards your own well-being and achieving personal harmony.

In the long run, no one will remember how much you impressed someone to get an extra mark. But only you’ll remember what it took to accomplish an exciting project.

Mental health is very important in life as it leads us to take on a variety of roles and creates several memories, including hard-earned realisations. We should help individuals in becoming capable of dealing with various situations that life throws our way.
