At last, the BJP is to form the government in Karnataka. Every strategy applied by the Congress and the Janata Dal (s) was ineffective in curbing the BJP. The assembly election results even brought the BJP to the position of the largest single party. Though it remained short of the majority, it was invited by the Governor to form the government.
Even the apex court observed such a situation. Congress and JD (S) combined seat numbers prevailed over BJP. It appeared a little odd on what basis B.S. Yeddyurappa claimed he has the numbers. Here the calculation was in some way challenged, the way he was invited seems a bit suspicious.
However, the BJP government has been put on a test for a period of 15 days to prove majority on the floor of the House. So, B.S. Yeddyurappa still has to show his political acumen in gathering the required numbers.
What Bhartiya Janata Party aspired to achieve was finally obtained in the state of Karnataka. Despite all the logical steps taken on the part of the Congress, the JD(s) and the Bahujan Samaj Party, ultimate success has sided with the Bhartiya Janata Party. It has definitely won the maximum number of seats in the recently-concluded assembly elections in Karnataka.
With this development, the uncertainty shall continue for at least two weeks. BJP’s Yeddyurappa took oath as the Karnataka Chief Minister and has been given 15 days to prove his majority. The politician’s excitement has not completely diminished with the BJP forming the government in Karnataka.
