Bleeding With Dignity

What is it that you said? Shhh?
Why? Why is it that you insist on the battle between our legs be kept hidden in the dark and away from the world?

Why? Why is it that I should whisper about the Whisper we are made to hide deep inside the mysterious territories of our bags which are unknown to men?

Why? Why is that you are embarassed by my blood stained skirt when my uterus is bleeding away its dying tissues and I’m here writhing in unnegotiable pain?

Why? Why is that you shy away from using the ”P” word and tell me not to talk about it and feel it’s disgusting to hear about a woman bleeding from her vagina?

Well so, do you want me to remind you the way  you entered this world, kicking and crying your way through your mother’s skin, wrapped up in the same shades of red?

From irresistable cravings to emotional breakdowns,
From XXL pads to hot water bags and painkillers,
We endure it all. If today I’m limited physically or emotionally, it’s only your mindset and not my body’s physiology that has caused it.

Allow, Allow us to bleed with dignity for this is the only bleeding that never takes away a life, but instead, takes pride in giving birth to one.

Allow, allow us to bleed with dignity for it is something mighty, something holy and holds within it the power of carrying forward our human race.
