The Congress Seeks Advantage By Supporting The JD(S) In Karnataka

Nothing pleases parties more than exploiting every political possibility to the fullest. And this is exactly what seems to be happening ever since the assembly election results were declared in Karnataka.

The Congress and the Janata Dal (Secular) have come closer than ever before. As the leaders of both the parties seemingly have the same goal, they are showing respect and encouraging each other to accomplish their sole objective of forming the government.

Undoubtedly, the Congress party has lost its sheen by gaining lesser seats than it did in the last assembly election. Yet, its support of the JD(S) was nothing short of enthusiastic. After all, this post-poll alliance is the only option for the parties to stay in power in the state.

This move has certainly attracted the sarcasm of the BJP leaders. The party has minced no words in expressing its opinion that there is nothing promising about the alliance. Neither do the BJP’s leaders consider the alliance to be a permanent one.

There’s no doubt that the Congress and JD(S) have bonded over one purpose only. Though some differences seem to be showing up, these cracks are not expected to develop any further. In fact, both the parties seem to be quite contented with the ‘give-and-take’ policy at present.

This alliance has certainly shown what can be achieved if the Opposition stays united. With this foundation, both the parties are now perhaps planning the way ahead for the alliance.
