Dear Youth, Embrace Reality With Positivity Instead Of Getting Buried In Regrets

Through the course of your life, either you decide to feel exhilarated on certain specific days or you make each day a special one for yourself. The latter comes from the desire to live a beautiful life devoid of regrets.

Life has managed to take me through journeys where every road I’ve taken has taught me a new lesson. Every time I passed through a difficult phase, I learnt something new. One very important realisation has been to stop saying, “I’ve always wanted to…” I’ve spent the last couple of months changing this thought process. I do not want to have regrets later in life. Now, I tell myself things that encourage action.

It was my birthday on May 9 and people close to me have always been aware of the fact that it has always been my favourite day of the year. However, unlike previous years, I was calm this time. I was content, inside and out. I wore new clothes to the office and I felt as if my soul had been born anew. I am a changed person – one who really cares about who her well-wishers are, who are her friends and who genuinely care about bringing smiles and happiness to others.

I now know the art of acceptance. It feels like I’ve gifted myself magic. I have come across some beautiful selfless people in the last couple of days. At the end of my birthday, I had gathered all these memories and had this single thought: “You give more and you get more.”

I came to realise that it is we who make our lives so very complicated. We unknowingly push ourselves into negativity and regret. We don’t need to. We should do our bit and find comfort in that. This is the simple thing that I’ve understood and now I’m sharing this with you.

If we learn to embrace reality with positivity, then every day on earth can be a birthday.

With gratitude,
Sharvani
