Home for the homeless

Homelessness is a state where people do not have a permanent habitat with sheltered and guarded surroundings. Being homeless is also a state with lessened factors which make a HOME rather than a HOUSE. The causes for this social issue can be N, but we are derailing from the actual cause, that humans themselves are the ones who make these unfortunate ones homeless. The primary causes are family breakups, domestic violence, followed by secondary causes being economic and societal issues.

Domestic Violence and Homelessness are co-relative to each other. Here, when I mention Domestic Violence it does not mean Women are the only victims of it. Yes, the facts and figures from the NSDV fact sheet indicate that on an average nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused, the ratio is 15:5(Women: Men), which clearly indicates that men are also the victims, of course not on a larger scale. Hence, Domestic Violence is the foremost cause of homelessness. There are also reasons such as drug consumption, teen pregnancy etc being the cause of being abandoned. There are instances in the US, Africa etc where children have been homeless, reason being that they identify as gay, which is pathetic!

I am a regular viewer on YouTube of the social experiments conducted on the homeless. As I watched, I realized that all of them who were being filmed (secretly) and also the ones in real, is that dollars, pounds, rupees are not what they desire for, instead it is food and a bunch of lovable words and people is what they crave for. The dryness of the present situation is such, that: lately, for the royal wedding at Windsor Castle, places around Windsor Castle where the homeless found their little, unsheltered homes were asked to sleep streets away from the vicinity of Windsor Castle. What after that? Back to square one after the Royal Wedding? Why don’t we get a solid permanent solution?

We have ranted enough about the problem, now what? The possible solutions would be:

1: Similar to the rehabilitation centres counselling centres should be established in order to make them mentally and emotionally stable and strong, which shall to an extent avoid them taking drastic steps.

2: Food Boxes(Food Refrigerators) must be put up at key locations, which are accessible to the homeless.

3: Homeless should be admitted to the ADULT FOSTER Care Centres or FOSTER HOMES and those centres should  register themselves to the ADULT ADOPTION centres, which shall give a HOMELESS a HOME and a FAMILY.

It is a state of dejection that our country and the world is still a ‘home for the homeless ‘! It is an opportunity for us, the youth to turn this “social issue”, into an “opportunity” to exploit all the possible solutions and make the world a HOME FOR ALL!
