India Drops To The Second Position In The Latest ICC ODI Rankings

The Indian cricket team may have been rightly worried as it dropped to the second position in the ICC ODI rankings. This is because England has gained eight points while India lost a single point in the latest rankings.

The reports said that England’s ascent to the top was possible only because its poor run during the 2014-15 season was excluded from the calculations. On the other hand, the performances from the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons have been weighted at 50%.

As a result, England moved to the top with a total of 125 points, while India dropped to the second place with 122 points. This is the first time in five years that England has made it to the pinnacle of the ODI rankings table.

However, India would also like to gain a few points of its own in the upcoming series against England in July this year. The Indian team has occupied the top spot before, and it’s only natural that they would want to regain that spot. India has the option to do so – and the Men in Blue must excel against the English team in the three ODIs they have in July 2018.
