M.E.N.S.T.R.U.A.T.I.O.N – #NoMoreLimits

We, Indians have so many reasons to smile as we have so much to celebrate. We celebrate the launch of 104 satellites in a single flight by ISRO, the nomination of the Indian economist Raghuram Rajan for the prestigious Noble prize in Economics, the worldwide popularity of the Indian movies such as “Dangal and Bahubali”, the unprecedented thunderous applause and standing ovations won by our Indian leaders and so on…But is there something that’s worth celebrating but we neglect it?

M.E.N.S.T.R.U.A.T.I.O.N

The day he laughed at my stained skirt,

I hated him.

I hated him for not realizing the fact that this is the determinant of his existence on this planet!

Since ages, the womenfolk is bleeding as a result of which families are getting their descendants. Sadly, the second-most populated country fails to  pay attention to this issue of paramount importance.

Yesterday, I was having a word with my maid’s daughter. She had her menarche. I was disappointed to know that she was unaware about menstruation. She wasn’t even using a sanitary napkin instead she was using an unsanitized cotton cloth. She was telling me that her intermediate family thinks that she is afflicted with a chronic disease. What startled me the most was that she was asked to sleep outside the whole night and was not given food.

Baba says that I have become “impure”.

A nations’s progress can be determined by the way it’s girl folk and womenfolk are treated. Though we Indians are capable of making the satellite reach the cosmos, it is excruciatingly depressing to say that we have failed in making sanitary napkin and menstrual awareness to the houses of womenfolk and girl folk in our country. At the end of the day, it’s our efforts that count. Let’s join hands to guide girls and their mothers who ain’t aware about menstrual hygiene as we all exist because the women bleed!
