She’s The Only One Who Bleeds

There’s an ongoing war in the heart of my nation.
Blood now draped in silk.
She knows not your religion,
Red is the only colour she feels.

Her daughters are being raped and molested
In broad daylight.
Her sons getting lynched over rumoured beef.
Her soldiers returning in coffins
from the curve of her lips.

Her wrath is enough to burn the bloodstained
hands of all the people in power, who use
the innocent as shields.

“It’s the final warning,” she screams

She knows not the structure that will be built
upon her womb.
A mosque – a temple
Because it’s her children who are doomed.

There will come a time when she will have no more
Skin left to bury the flesh returning back
From the war fought over
Caste, colour and creed.

She’s howling in pain, but she isn’t week.

She’s a mother, whoever is killed
She’s the only one who bleeds.
