Our over-volatility over politics

How come we have become so much volatile over the issue of politics? The issue that I am going to talk about has taken place in a small town, some odd 150 kilometers away from Jabalpur, in Kymore. This small town once used to be an epitome, in my perception, for the peaceful living of different religion-sects in one place. But things have changed drastically in a couple of years. A few days back someone uploaded a picture asking credibility of the current government onto which some disagreed. Now the whole comment-section was divided into two groups one supporting the picture and other which questioned the uploader about the picture. Who was right or wrong, I don’t know. What I know is definitely there is something wrong with us. And just for this absurd reason whole Kymore is burning (emotionally) now.

It is obvious that some people might get offended when asked about the government’s credibility as each one of us have one or another political views. Some support current government and some like to oppose the government. But is it justified that due to differences over political-views one should ignite communal tension? It is obvious with a country of 1.3 billion people, it is almost impossible to have uniform political views but what saddens me is that just because of the egoistic nature of two groups, whole Kymore is burning (emotionally) in the communal fire. People are being skeptical whether the person next door is trust-worthy or not. Friends are questioning their friendships. Just because two groups believe in different ideologies. One invited the other for a fight in the comment section of that very picture and the other person accepts the invitation; all these absurdities resulted in a curfew in Kymore. I personally never thought that something could affect people of Kymore to such an extent.

From this whole incident, one thing has come out profusely correct that we are nowadays have become immensely volatile over the issues of political ideologies. Moreover, what hurts more is that how the whole media is trying to give this a communal colour. The fight was over the political views, not over religious issues. One thing is clear that we have steeply decreased our ability to accept, to accept one another, to accept different views, to accept questions. We are a democratic nation and the most powerful weapon you and I have is power to question people those who are in power.

I am not here to tell you who was wrong or who was right, but I request you to not let this hatred inflict your relations with your friends or with people who matter. Different political parties have different agendas to polarize people over one or the other issue and collect votes. These differences won’t matter if you are ready to hold a debate with your beloved opposition (people having different political views). I know many debates do not end with a conclusion but still, it will help you in getting used to questionnaire. We are democratic nation what matters most is our’s, people of India’s, insusceptibility over political views. I hope sooner rather than later this issue will resolve in Kymore. And I wish next time damage to such an extent won’t happen just because some people disagree with the political views others have.
