Do We Need Society’s Permission To Fall In Love Before Marriage?

Things are different from before. These days, we are quite open about our relationship status. But how did society get divided between people who do not stare at other people holding hands and people who harass others and beat them for standing close or hugging?

How does someone else get to decide how we should behave or act around our loved ones? As long as our actions are consensual, how does it harm other people? Why is there such moral policing about falling in love before marriage? I wonder how one single ceremony can make love legitimate in people’s eyes?

Metropolitan cities today have OYO rooms where one can check in for a few hours or days and no one objects to what goes on behind closed doors.

The official website and the hotels that fall under their chain always mention this one line: “Unmarried couples are welcome.”

Why do we need society’s permission to fall in love before marriage? One should be free to fall in love whenever one chooses to. How long will it take for people to lead their own lives and respect other people’s individuality? Something as fragile as a relationship should always be one’s personal choice and not something that the whole world should decide.

Fall in love on your own terms and conditions. I hope things improve in the future. I hope we can have a future society which is far more open, accepting and beautiful.
