Congress And BJP Make Similar Promises To Woo Voters In Karnataka

When we compare seven promises made by the BJP and the Congress in their election manifestos in Karnataka, they are very similar. Both the competing parties are assuring the farmers of doubling their income if voted to power. It appears to be more than a political gimmick.

Besides, the free offer of smartphones to the youth just for capturing their votes is also mentioned in the Congress party manifesto, while the Bhartiya Janata Party has pledged to make that valued electronic gadget available to poor women.

With regard to employment, the Congress party has made the assurance of one crore jobs in a period of five years while the BJP has promised to provide employment through the Start-up programme.

As far as women’s security is concerned, the BJP comes with the exceptional promise of employing as many as 1000 women in the police force. How can the Congress lag behind in this particular sphere then? It has given the assurance of bringing improvement in this field by 33 percent.

The fast-approaching Karnataka assembly elections have given the political leaders an enthusiastic expectation of gaining power. The BJP, the Congress and the Janata Dal (S) are out guns blazing on the political ground with their respective promises.

Undeniably, the leaders have been possessed with the single aim of winning seats. They are leaving no chance of securing the upper-hand in the election campaign. The hard-working politicians are now wholly concentrating on the votes. BJP leader Yeddyurappa has even insisted upon bringing the voters to the polling booth by tying them up.

Their speeches and public meetings are the only noise echoing all over the 224 constituencies.
