Tripura CM Biplab Deb Claims That Tagore Returned Nobel Prize In Protest

Tripura CM Biplab Deb has opened his mouth again to utter these words: “Tagore returned his Nobel award in protest against the British.” His office later clarified that he had meant to say that Tagore returned his Knighthood as a sign of protest against the Jalianwalla Bagh massacre.

Verbal blunders are nothing new for the Tripura CM. Here are some previous great statements by Biplab Deb, enlightening the masses.

“How can he see through Sanjay’s eyes? There was technology available at that time… internet was there, satellite communication was there,” said Biplab Deb, arguing that the internet existed during the Mahabharata.

He followed that up with, “Even Diana Hayden got it (the world title). See, everyone is laughing. Tell me, was Diana Hayden supposed to get it? Aishwarya Rai got it. That’s justified because she carries the essence of the beauty of Indian women.”

And there have been many more. I need not enumerate them here as I’m guessing the readers are well-versed. Some RSS-BJP leaders even regularly make ignorant statements to incite communal violence, and the similar is done by their paid trolls on social media and on WhatsApp.

What surprises me is not the existence of these nitwits and their lack of intelligence but the fact that people are flocking to them and making them lawmakers.

People need jobs, healthcare and education for their children and they are ready to work for these facilities. Apparently, the reason the people of Tripura ditched the previous government was that they did not get the desired quality of life. But instead, they have been lured away by jingoist rhetoric. Even supposedly ‘independent’ institutions are under attack from the BJP-RSS nexus. Their purpose seems to be to increase the rate of profit for their masters, the big capitalists and multinational corporations (MNCs).

To bring in a change in rulers, we need mass political participation, and it should be led by a party of hardworking people, workers and farmers.
