So, as I listen to millions amd millions of people (including females) shushing other people when the word “periods” comes up in public, I think to myself that do these people even use their brains when they blurt out words; or are they using their brains completely wrong?
Answer: They are scared!
I am a 25 year old girl, born in the 90s (obviously). I have been taught so much about me menstruating, about why my body is giving out blood, about how proper I should be in those 5 days, and many more; what I don’t get is that why wasn’t I taught to shy away from it? Why wasn’t I taught to tell the shopkeeper that it’s not needed to cover my packet of sanitary napkins with newspaper? Why?
Let me make it very clear (to all the brainless and superstitious ones out there) that PERIODS is as normal as one sweating, blinking, urinating, crying and all the involuntarily actions that the biology text books have taught us.
I have participated in my grandmother’s shradhh while I was menstruating, I was told not to but guess what? I gave the finger and told them my “Didun” (grandmother) can never curse me or hurt me from up there, I am her grandchild. Then comes the question of God! I mean, seriously?! Isn’t God the one to create the universe like this? How can she/he be mad?
I put these wrong notions aside as jokes which I can think of and laugh at this humanity! I think it’s time we all should do the same.
Men and women out there, leave those wrong and stupid ideas behind and start thinking! It is high time.
