Congress Accuses BJP Over 60 Lakh Alleged Fake Voters In Madhya Pradesh

The Congress has accused the BJP in Madhya Pradesh of including names of 60 lakh fake voters in the voters’ list. This is an important concern that the party has raised.

Perhaps this is a chance for the Congress to brighten its future prospects in the state where they had won only 57 assembly seats in the December 2013 elections. There were a total of 230 seats in the state assembly.

The Congress has brought the matter to the attention of the Election Commission. The EC has created two teams to inquire into the complaints regarding the duplicate names in the electoral rolls in the state. The report has to be submitted by the teams by June 7 this year. The Congress party regards the discrepancy as misuse of the administrative power.

Its leader Jyotiraditya Scindia alleged that the voters had increased by 40% while the population of the state had increased by 24% in the past one decade.

The state unit of the BJP has termed the allegations as a disappointing act by the grand old political party.

Despite the prevailing incongruity, the BJP has not complained to the Election Commission, said the Congress leaders.

Scindia said that they had the right to raise up this important issue.
