With the world still being stuck with gender binaries; male vs. female; we miss out on a large chunk of the gender spectrum that includes people like Durga Gawde. Durga who identifies as gender fluid, often finds themselves in different parts of this spectrum, sometimes they feel female, sometimes male, sometimes both and sometimes, neither.
Around the time that Durga hit puberty, they felt a disconnection between their assigned biological sex and their gender identity. It was confusing for a child who was in a society that pushed the idea of womanhood onto them.
They find it hard to connect or identify with other people. With nobody to relate to, it took them a lot of time and patience to feel comfortable with their fluidity and to speak about it freely.
Over the years, Durga has grown and evolved as an individual and feels more confident about themself. They are on a mission to educate the world about the vast gender spectrum.
