I love being a girl but I wish I didn’t have “periods”

A year ago one of my cousins just hit her period for the first time. She belonged to a South Indian family. At that time her parents held a pooja saying our daughter is now a woman and resemble goddess also called her as Devi that day all the rituals were followed and the pooja ended my cousin was super confused what actually happened and why was all if this thing happening to her? Her mother explained to her that period is a gift from God given only to women so that we can conceive and carry their family forward she was feeling blessed that day!

A year later she had a tour to Uttar Pradesh and at that time she was on her period she was asked to stay away from the pooja ghar and the fields saying if she goes near the pooja ghar it would be a sin and if she goes near the field she would damage all the crop after hearing this she was frustrated!

After returning back she asked her mother the reason behind all those things she heard during her tour. Her mother simply smiled and gave her life lessons that day.

The very first thing she was told was how not to listen to the Indian society in some terms like :

In the ancient time women were asked to stay in a room during there periods so that they do not exert there body too much  and stay calm and fresh , they were asked to just sit down so that they don’t tire themselves but later on due to several people and their thinking people took this act of care to a very devastating end and now people have all of these blind faiths !

Just like we have a daily cycle, a routine the same way we have our menstrual cycle this is what people need to understanding and stop believing in all these blind faiths

We live in the 21st century but still due to some of the orthodox mentality and a lot of blind faith people believe in rubbish things.

We need to take a stand on this! And say enough!

Menstruation is a blessing and let it be that way lets not turn it into a curse due to some false faiths!

Due to all these faiths, I really get this gut feeling that I feel proud to be a woman but hate periods just because of the way people treat women during that time!!

Let periods be a blessing and not a curse to every girl out there
