Hindu Trolls Terrorise Priyanka Chopra And ‘Quantico’ To Admit There’s No Hindu Terror

Actor Priyanka Chopra was trolled on Twitter two times in the recent past: During her visit to a Rohingya camp in Bangladesh’s COX Bazaar as a global UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for Child Rights; secondly, for an episode of her ABC show, Quantico which featured a plot that had a Hindu character as a terrorist.

First two instances triggered the third one when Quantico show was cancelled. People poked fun at her for being a failure. The basic idea was to pull her down and find pleasure in the same.

The hashtag #BoycottPriyanka was trending for the past several days. The plot was about an Indian planning an attack on Manhattan and blaming Pakistan over it, right before a India-Pakistan Summit that was to happen.

The right wingers didn’t like the way a Hindu was portrayed as a terrorist, probably for them, only Muslims can be terrorist. This sounds ridiculous as we keep on saying that terrorism has no religion, but certain groups get offended when we talk about fundamentalism in their own religion.

I don’t understand how Priyanka doing a scene about Hindu terrorism on Quantico will defame Hindus or pull down the image of India. Is our reputation based on fictional characters portrayed on TV?

I stopped watching Quantico after the second season, as it failed to amaze me. Most of us got to know about the specific scene in the show when trolls started attacking Priyanka.

The makers of Quantico issued an official apology for hurting sentiments, but that didn’t stop the trolls from attacking Priyanka. You can see the same trend of digging up Priyanka’s past to put her down. It’s easy to bring out past or failures of a woman to bring her down.

Quantico was cancelled by ABC in May for its low rating, but right-wing trolls attacking Priyanka made it as her failure.

Priyanka did get some support online too, one of the prominent ones being Pooja Bhatt. She defended Priyanka for taking up the role in Quantico.
