Wicca is a contemporary Pagan new religious movement. It was developed in England during the first half of the 20th century and was introduced to the public in 1954 by Gerald Gardner, a retired British civil servant. Wicca draws upon a diverse set of ancient pagan and 20th century hermetic motifs for its theological structure and ritual practices. Wicca has no central authority. Its traditional core beliefs, principles and practices were originally outlined in the 1940’s and 1950’s by Gardner and Doreen Valiente, both in published books as well as in secret written and oral teachings passed along to their initiates.
Wicca is typically duo-theistic, worshiping a Goddess and a God. Essentially when Wiccans practice they invoke the goddess and god within them and strike a balance when they do it perfect balance of feminine and male side. Because Wicca is all about striking a balance within. Wicca is perhaps the most accepting and non judging religion of all and especially it does not judges you on the basis of one’s sexual orientation.
The Charge of the Goddess is an inspirational text often used in Wicca. Let share a quote from it “for behold: all acts of love and pleasure are my rituals”. Now, this is my understanding, A gay guy is in touch of its feminine side hence it makes it even more easy and powerful for him to connect to the Goddess and God because he is somewhat already in balance channeling his own inner goddess or lets say Diva! So i don’t see any issue with gay men or women practicing Wicca. I would like to tell them that Wicca welcomes you . We accept and welcome you with open arms.
I would also like to remind you about the Wiccan Rede and the very essence of it which is “An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will”. Meaning to the best of my knowledge do what you want to as long as it does not hurt/harm anyone. But you my fellow earth walkers forget and have ended up hurting a lot of people and their sentiments. What you do is uncalled for when you shun someone for being different.
17th May 2018 we celebrated the World Homophobia Day the very fact that we are even addressing this issue in 2018 deeply hurts me. Normalization of homosexuality is integral to our Spiritual Evolution as a Planet. In fact there is actually no homosexual or heterosexual person, only sexual beings, Who may or may not explore sexuality with same or opposite sex partners, according to their path of Spiritual Evolution. So today i just wish to tell my friends in the LGBTQ community it’s ok to be different. Not all religion shuns the different some are accepting to. Though i want to be clear that i am simply stating what i feel needed to be said and i am not out to recruit.
