As a ‘good student’, you may answer – “Science.”
Am I right?
Many students in our country prefer Science as their stream of study. The motto for most of them is – We can get a good job if we study Science.
As a result, unemployment is getting worse. To solve this problem we must change our mentality first.
In this age, there’s no difference between ‘Social Science’ and ‘Science’ students. There are so many fields open for Social Science students.
Moreover, every subject is related to each other. You may laugh at me as I always say, “History is nothing but Science.”
Are you astonished after hearing this? Maybe you are. Now give me some time to describe the matter.
If I ask you,“What is the date of birth of great Egyptian Pharaoh Tutankhamun?” You may answer,”1341 BC”.
Now tell me how have you answered it? With the help of Science, you have answered the question. Scientists have calculated the date by various types of modern instruments of science. We had no reliable evidence to know about the Pharaoh so we took the help of chemistry as well as biology. Now tell me who were his parents? You can answer this also.
“How was the relationship between them before marriage?”
If you have read history properly you can answer this also.
The relation among them also was discovered with the help of Genetics.
I hope that by now you have understood the necessity of History. It doesn’t only tell us the past stories but also makes us aware us about our present as well as future!
Now coming to the importance of reading literature. Literature feeds our minds. It also helps us to discover Science from different angles. There are so many books on Science. Like the ‘Cosmos’ by Carl Sagan, ‘The Selfish Gene’ by Richard Dawkins, ‘The Theory of Everything’ by Stephen Hawking etc. Apparently, they are the books of Science by there’s literature behind them.
What is more, you may know the different traditions as well as trendy global languages. Then you may become able to find the missing link of human culture. In addition, in this age of fast living people are more health conscious than before. So many of them have started taking Ayurvedic medicine for their own need. And if you want to know about Ayurvedic treatment you must know Sanskrit.
Now leave this matter, come to other Social Science subjects. If you have no idea about human psychology you can’t write a good novel or story. A doctor also treats his patients by knowing their psychology.
Later on, Geography is known as ‘Mother Science’. If you have no knowledge of Geography you won’t be able to read Science. If you want to know the path of evolution you must take the help of History as well as Geography.
Hence every subject has a significant role in education. If you want to gain success in life you must gain vast knowledge in every subject. I believe, Social Science gives the definition of Science and Science explains Social Science.
