Things to know before you embark on your solo trip

Solo trip tops our bucket list. Doesn’t it? It sounds exciting and thrilling to be on a solo trip, at least once in our life time. Whether you are a people’s person or a lone wolf, a solo trip, is a whole new experience. It teaches you so many things that you can really never learn from the comfort of your home or traveling in a protected environment. The idea though needs lot of preparation and pre-thoughts before being implemented.  You just can’t pick you rucksack and say you are on for a solo trip (until solo trips have been your only thing, and its nothing new for you), so here let’s take a look at some points you must ponder on before going on your much awaited solo trip.

  1. Thorough research

Gather all the information you can, about the place you are about to visit. The kind of area it is, the type of people you can expect, and the tradition the community there follows. You might think why am I suggesting all this (since the whole point of a trip is to explore a new place!), it is because if you already know the kind of place you are about to visit you will be prepared for the environment, and accept it better. Nothing unexpected will arise hence no trouble (remember you are all on your own).

  1. Near is no fear

Traveling alone for the first time might get you nervous. We have always been suggested to keep things small when doing it for the first time. Similarly, keep your travel plans small, visit some nearby place. This little step will prepare you for the next big trip.

  1. Plan in advance

Do not take sudden leap, yes, I get it you are full of adventure and this is your thing. But planning in advance saves you lot of money (people book honeymoon packages in advance to save few bucks), cheap domestic flight tickets are available if you book them well in advance. Also if you wish to reserve hotel rooms you have more chances to get the ones of your choice rather than to have settled at some place you wouldn’t want to stay for a minute. Being all by yourself you need a good place don’t you?

  1. Apps to your rescue

There are hundreds of apps you can download before getting on road. In this era of internet and technology, you actually don’t need a physical companion (of course only if you don’t want one). There are apps that will assist you entirely on your trip, search and download the ones suitable for you. From telling you the best nearby Coffee Shop to the nearest police station (god forbade you need one, but in case you know!)

  1. Check list

Lastly prepare a check list of all the documents and important stuff you are carrying or need to carry with you. This will keep you from losing your important stuff (just because you forgot and no one was there to remind you).
