Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar was born on 24th April to a Maratha novelist. The boy with innate potential was named after a prolific music director Sachin Dev Burman. Sachin was introduced to the game under the proper tutelage of famous coach Ramakant Achrekar who recognized his potential and trained him well to reign the world of cricket. One of the interesting techniques used by Achrekar in Sachin’s training schedules was whenever he got tired while practising, he used to place a one rupee coin at the middle stump and challenged him if he could bat without being dismissed, he would give that coin to him. (Sachin has earned 13 coins as a reward which he considers as one of his most prized possessions.)

Sania Mirza is one of the leading tennis player in India as well as the world, who has been ranked 1st in WTA Doubles ranking in 2015 after winning the WTA Family Circle Cup with a Swiss professional Martina Hingis. Sania was born on 15th November in the Mirza Family. Since her childhood, she was consummately interested in sports and started playing tennis at the tender age of six, after moving to Hyderabad with her family. She was introduced to tennis by her father with whom she used to practice initially and later on, learned under the tutelage of Roger Anderson. Not only this, Mirza has also groomed herself into a proficient swimmer.

Major Dhyan Chand, the Indian Hockey legend is well-known for his goal-scoring ability that made him earn three gold medals at three consecutive Olympic events, creating history. The iconic personality has served both in Army as well as at the hockey field throughout his life. Widely considered as the magician of hockey, the man had scored around 1000 goals in his active career which is a record feat.

Fondly known as the “Golden Girl” as well as “Payyoli Express“, P.T. Usha is amongst India’s most successful athletes. The lady with alacrity has ruled the running track for almost two decades, adding numerous accolades to her name and becoming an inspiration for every girl all around the globe.
