LG vs Kejriwal – A vindication for the CM?

A prolonged power tussle between the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi,Anil Baijal and Delhi’s Chief Minister,Arvind Kejriwal was resolved by the honorary Supreme Court Of India.

The apex court consisting of a bench of five -Judges including CJI Deepak Mishra in an unanimous ruling held that the LG is bound by the ‘Aid and Advice’ of the elected Government and LG has no independent authority to take decisions except in matters under Article 239. The SC further stated that there’s no room for anarchy or absolutism in a democracy. There has been  a history of  protracted tussles between Mr Kejriwal and LGs of Delhi over the varied matters pertaining from the appointment of bureaucrats to Mohalla Clinics to the school teachers. The verdict seems to be a sigh of relief for Mr. Kejriwal who had been reiterating about non-complying nature of the LGs the and observing Dharna Pradarshan. He hailed the decision by tweeting that its a big victory for the People of Delhi and of Democracy.
