Living Life Low-Waste: Conscious Chokri Shares Her Story

Mehndi Shivdasani ‘Pills the Beans on Environmental Consciousness | Vitamin Stree

At the peak of the industrial age, we’ve relied far too much on natural resources to make things we don’t need. While our lives have been made easy, the environment sure has suffered. Now, it’s one thing to realise that and another to do something about it.

Meet Mehndi, who decided to drop the unnecessary waste and go green in more ways than one.

For instance, she’s gone green with her period by using a menstrual cup and a cloth pad, compare that with the average woman using about 11000 pads or tampons in her lifetime.

In fact even with things like using a washable steel straw instead of plastic straws, and a steel water bottle over buying packaged water. Mehndi has taken some simple but significant steps to do her part in saving our environment from the unnecessary use of plastic.

When it comes to harmful chemicals going into our oceans, she’s replaced her soap, shampoo, detergent and other cleaning products with homemade, natural alternatives.

In the bigger picture, if more and more of us learned a little from Mehndi and embraced this kind of lifestyle, we’d really be working in favour of our environment and the future generations.
