A mere political conceptualised theory of conspiracy against feminism, the civilised society and deliberate communal division.
There has been much fervour caused by the concept of Love-Jihad which alleges activities by men based on the power of emotional appeal and love for religious conversion.
In a statement, former MP and now CM, Yogi Adityanath, alleged Love-Jihad as an international conspiracy against India and he demanded that Hindu men should also marry Muslim women as a form of counter-attack.
Now, what is this scenario? Has the political leadership in our country been restricted to the matters of caste, religion, and communalism? Does India not need to focus on issues of development and growth?
This is just not the deliberate turn-down of the topic to political favouritism but a strict action to push back the existence of feminism. The question is: Is it a crime to be someone’s spouse, such that marriage in return of marriage is a riposte of revenge? Marriage, according to Indian culture is a pure relationship between two individuals and eternal bonding, then how come it can supposedly be a medium of vengeance?
Secondly, why don’t such people stand for the inter-caste-marriages in order to destroy social evils?
I must tell you WHY! That’s because it’s always been difficult for this society to believe in the fact that women are leaving their home because of their own free will. Today, they are smart and mature enough to take their decisions, in selecting their life partners. This is a revolutionary and unacceptable thought for such contractors of religion, caste, and creed, who in spite of this, alleges it to be a nuisance. They feel that couples are merely being swayed by the emotional appeal of love!
Actually, Love Jihad has no connections with the much-aired differences between Hindu and Muslim communities. Love marriage, right from the beginning has been seen as unpleasant in the society. Still, in some major parts of India, marriage is a mere business where the garlands of monetary notes upsurge the pride of the bridegroom, where the importance of the bride is considered by the weight of the jewellery which she wears. Considerably, in a society where men and women are treated equally, there is automatically no opposition for love marriages.
According to The Asia Foundation, 90% of the women trafficking happens between states in India. This hypocritical patriarchal society never stood strongly against women trafficking, but yes, they sure hold it against women who choose to marry out of choice. Even after continuously proving herself in every sphere, a woman is still being pushed around because she hurts “the dominant male ego’. When women have no independent existence, how can they gain respect for her decisions?
Therefore, such groups and concepts are nothing but an absurd conspiracy and diversion from the “real” issues of society and development. Just to gain political favours and profits by creating fear and dividing the society along communal lines and surely has no place in a civilized society.
But the question is: Are we a civilised society to begin with?
