The Poison In You

You see, at times the poison is the lady’s eyes when she looks at you, thinking she knows better.

The poison slowly touches you when the guy behind rubs off his shoulder slowly and nudges you.
The poison is now spreading through every broken relationship that you’ve been through.
The poison has now reached your mind, you have started making it a part of you.
The poison slowly invades your nerves, making you believe you are not enough.
The poison creeps into your blood, taking the colour red for refuge.
The poison is controlling you, you double check everything you do.
The poison is now friends with you, you feel so safe you let it brew.
The poison will turn your body blue and you will let people believe it’s what age is doing to you

I’d have you rather pale, rather un-blue, rather brave.
I’d have you a little unsure, but never double check, not anymore.
I’d have you as you are, for this poison is not your friend,
You are.

So, be a friend to yourself before anyone else
And tell yourself to take things lightly
The road ahead will be a little bumpy
But you will have to fight your poison before it defeats you completely.
