After a lot of talk and media coverage, finally, the moment came when Rahul Gandhi spoke during in the Parliament during the no-confidence motion as the head of the chief political party in the opposition. People had expected that he would reflect their issues in the parliament, which he did to some extent. He spoke about the Rafale deal, low employment rates, the Doklam standoff, PM Modi’s recent China visit, crony capitalism by the NDA govt, Indian farmers’ issue etc. However, the only thing the media picked up is – his hug to PM Modi the wink that followed.
To be honest, it looked like he was confident when he started his speech but all expectations were lost soon. He made several allegations against the PM Modi-led government but he failed to present any facts. Major parts of his speech were based on perception. His gesture to PM Modi definitely marked a new beginning for challenging the politics of hatred. But I think all that seemed vain after the wink. That’s the problem with him.
To conclude, Rahul Gandhi needs more improvement. The nation wants a bold speech on real issues from him. This is not Rahul Gandhi 2.0, he seems like the same old one to me.
