Britain Refuses To Follow US’ Lead, Continues With Swimsuit Round In Pageants

After the United States of America decided to cancel its swimsuit round during the Miss America pageant, a lot of people came out to support it.

However, Britain doesn’t seem to have agreed with USA’s stand and has decided to continue with the round in its own pageants. British model Poppy Haskell, who won the Miss Swimsuit UK pageant last year said that she did not see why it needed to be cancelled. “From my side, it was a very positive experience, and I had things that I was insecure about till I went on stage in my bikini, in my swimwear. And because the crowd and their reaction was so positive, I now feel a lot more confident. And I think sometimes it does do great things for the women, so I do think it’s a shame,” she said in an interview with Radio Sputnik.

She added that the organisers were mistaken to end the bikini segment in Miss USA pageant. She strongly disagreed with the swimsuit segment being merely a sexist feature.

What was wrong if the organisers were discarding the dresses which overtly or covertly make the beautiful women uncomfortable?

Oscar Wilde once said, “Either be a work of art or wear a work of art.”
