Despite Clarifications, Trolls Kept Criticising The Indian Cricket Team’s Group Photograph

Vigorous trollers on social media appeared to steadfastly criticise cricketer Virat Kohli’s actor-wife Anushka Sharma for her dignified presence in the cricket team’s group photograph. This particular snap was clicked at a reception by the Indian High Commissioner and his wife in London where the Indian cricket team is playing Test matches with England.

The criticisms about Sharma’s presence in the photograph, the team’s vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane standing in the back row etc. fell flat when the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) clarified that all the players’ partners were invited to the very programme.

But coincidentally, it was only Anushka Sharma who was present on the special occasion at the Indian High Commissioner’s residence in London. It was also clarified that Rahane stood at the spot on his own accord, it was definitely his personal decision. So, there was clearly no reason to have such a hue and cry about the said photograph.

The trolls were insistent on going after Sharma asking if she has joined the Indian cricket team, not paying any heed to BCCI’s clarifications. They made unnecessary comments without understanding the context of the given picture. The popular saying goes, “A picture is worth a thousand words”. But clearly, in this case, bullies on the internet drew their own conclusions and continued to spew hatred.
