Five Things You Should Do In Your First Year At Delhi University

Here is a comprehensive list of five things, which every DU student must do in their first year of college:

1. Attend the Business Conclave organised by S.R.C.C’s students union,  generally in the month of February. It is a three-day event where personalities from sports, politics, music and arts, corporate world, media etc. are invited.

2. Attend the Orientation Program of college societies and if possible go for the personal interview round, even if you don’t want to join that particular society. It will be a good experience for you, no better start can be possible than this. But, do join at least one society at the end as it is a helpful experience.

3. DU has some courses in foreign languages as well. Admission criteria for these courses is based on class 12th marks. Try to grab one course choosing from the offered languages such as Spanish, French, Japanese etc.

4.Try to inculcate a reading habit for fiction and non-fiction books, other than your text books- which you used to do till class 12th. Go to Daryaganj (Delhi) on a Sunday morning and purchase books at a cost of 100/kg!

5.Try to do an internship during the December vacation. It will help you understand the value of responsibility and commitment and of course you will get paid. It will also give you a sense of financial independence.
