Kohli Is Hopeful Of The Indian Team Performing Better In Third Test Against England

The third test between India and England at Trent Bridge, Nottingham will be very important. The Indian team would have endeavour hard to win the Test match. Reacting on the query over the possibility of changes in the Indian squad, veteran cricketer Sunil Gavaskar pensively said that it was badly required at this crucial stage.

But he proceeded to emphasise that it should not be a drastic decision. He did suggest at least two changes in the batting order and even indicated the names of a few players who should be dropped.  At the same time, he maintained that Virat Kohli must play even if he finds himself just 50% fit.  As he was the only player in the cricket team who could amass runs by his fine batting prowess, he needed to keep putting his best foot forward.

In the meantime, the captain stated, “I should be good enough to hold a position in the field.” He accepted that there was a mistake in choosing the second spinner when the weather conditions were profoundly in favour of fast bowlers.

Two repeated defeats have certainly demoralised the Indian cricketers which reminded them of a similar situation which occurred in 1974 in England. Kohli was in an intense pressure owing to the present embarrassing tally of two-nil. But keeping a strong resolve, he feels that we have a chance to correct previous shortcomings in the ensuing match.
