BJP Needs To Address More Important Things Than Shashi Tharoor’s ‘Hindu Pakistan’ Comment

There has been hue and cry over a recent statement made by Shashi Tharoor. While addressing a gathering in Thiruvananthapuram, Tharoor had said, “If they (BJP) win a repeat in the Lok Sabha our democratic constitution as we understand it will not survive as they will have all the elements they need to tear apart the constitution of India and write a new one. That new one will be the one which will enshrine principles of Hindu Rashtra, that will remove equality for minorities, that’ll create a Hindu Pakistan. That is not certainly one that Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, and Maulana Azad, had visualized.”

His comment received a lot of flak from various political quarters, a petition also has been filed against Tharoor for ‘hurting religious sentiments and insulting the constitution’ and summoned by the Calcutta High Court.

With his statement, Tharoor may have put the Indian constitution in peril, but what about the incidents of lynching, deaths in the name of cow protection, deaths of Dalits in the past few years? Nobody dares to say anything about this, including those who we have sent to the parliament for our representation. How can they be competent to represent us if they can’t even utter a single word over the frightful incidents happened?

When innocent people were being killed in a gruesome manner in the name of cow protection, in the name of the anti-Romeo squad, wasn’t the Constitution in danger then?
