A Caste Re-Alliance Could Spell Trouble For Nitish And Co. In Bihar

None can deny the fact that our traditional politics is wholly free from the influence of the caste factor. The established caste equation in political activities plays a decisive role in the political party’s victory in the elections.

If the BSP and the SP combination poses a danger to the party in power at Uttar Pradesh, the Kushwaha, Koiri, Yadav and other economically backward castes can cause trouble for Nitish & Co. in Bihar.

After the Yadav voters, the largest voters come from the Koiri caste. It is estimated at about 10% in the eastern state. Such a caste equation could bring benefits to the Rashtriya Janata Party if rearrangement of the parties occurs. Koiri leader Upendra Kushwaha has focussed his entire attention on the chief ministerial position so he wants to make this shift happen soon.
