As A Hindu, I Was Shocked To See Kanwariyas Destroy A Car In Moti Nagar

As some of you may know, this is the holy month of Saavan, when millions of devotees from around the nation travel by foot towards Haridwar to collect Ganga Jal (water from the Ganga). The journey made by these kanwarias been a very old tradition. But in the past decade, this journey has turned into a carefree ‘adventure’ for youngsters who consider it a license to loiter, beat up people, damage transport vehicles, and causing a lot of sound pollution and mischief.

I just came across a video from Moti Nagar, New Delhi that proved this and more.  In it, some young men clad in orange were caught damaging a car, leaving it dismantled and upside down in this middle of the road. Sadly, the video also showed a policeman standing and watching all this. That this happened was not his fault. Even he could’ve done nothing.

No God would ever want someone to do this to his children. No, Shiv Ji wouldn’t be happy about it at all. To the kanwariyas, you left your home for a good purpose, not for this. Aate aate paap karenge, jaate jaate paap karenge, paap ka kya hai, gangajal se dho dalenge! (You will sin on your way there, you will sin on your way back, it doesn’t matter when you cleanse your sins with water from the Ganga). Is this what you think of when you cause trouble?

Religious belief cannot be separated from humanity. You can’t be considered religious if you’re not worthy of being called a human first. I’m a Hindu myself, a Shiv bhakt, but in the name of religion, I’ll never support what’s wrong. For example, a car worth lakhs of rupees destroyed by some youngsters who don’t even know the value of it?
