Why A Student Should Avoid Private Engineering Colleges In India

If someone finds some qualities like time management, finding easy and smart ideas to overcome or deal with any kind of problems, doing their tasks in a precise and logical manner etc. all together in one person, then that person must be an engineer.

Indian students want to earn more as opposed to learning more, so most of them want to pursue a technical and vocational course like engineering. That being said, there are not enough number of good engineering colleges which actually train students to become good in their field.

Studying at average engineering colleges can be detrimental for students and here are some points which prove it.

1. Placements: Unlike Govt. colleges most of the private engineering colleges give assurances of placements with high salaries but fail to deliver on many occasions.

2. Fees: The course fees are always high in private colleges, and they charge for everything from tuition to books, hostel fees and ID card. Not every student can afford such exorbitant fee structures. Current statistics show that a total course fee can be within the range of ₹6 lakh-25 lakh which is a bane for most students.

3. Location: Unlike the NITs or IITs which are situated in cities and have access to adequate transportation and resources, many private colleges are located in the middle of nowhere. Owing to this reason, it’s easy for the placement cells of govt. colleges to connect, collaborate and invite companies for placements in metropolitan cities.

4. Infrastructure and Faculties: Most of the average engineering colleges cannot provide good infrastructure. Laboratory works and tests get hindered due to lack of proper equipment, space and experienced coordinators. Their libraries don’t have sufficient books for the students. Also, qualified teachers are not always present to deliver good lectures so that students can actually learn from them. Due to this many a times, it has been seen that students don’t have proper concept and knowledge about the subjects.

5. Batch size: Generally the size of batches is significantly larger in private colleges to procure more fees. So, the number of competitors become high, and this makes job placements even harder for students.

A good college facilitates and supports your education, and sometimes a tag of IIT, NIT, or BITS  can help a lot in a person’s career. Private colleges need to step up their game so that a student’s hard work gets rewarded with a suitable placement.
