Women’s Fashion Is ‘SEW’ Impractical!

Women’s fashion is known to be stylish and have a great variety, but it is also infamous for being highly impractical. We have come out of the dark ages of outrageous fashion techniques like foot-binding and wearing corsets. However, we are still stuck in a world where impractical clothing like pocket-less pants and uncomfortable items like high heels are considered fashion essentials. The women’s fashion industry is more concerned with the visual appeal than the comfort of women.

While men’s fashion consists of efficient and comfortable clothing which enables them to go about their work and life with ease, women’s fashion is uncomfortable and holds them back in several ways. Need to step out for a quick bite? Take a handbag along, because the tiny pockets on your pants won’t fit a phone and a wallet. Need to buy a basic bra? Spend your life’s savings on this overpriced necessity. Wearing heels to feel empowered in a workspace? Deal with the intense physical pain and damage that comes with this imagined empowerment. Need to pick out the perfect dress? Spend hours searching for the right fit because your preferred size from one brand will probably not match the other brand’s.

For ages, women have put up with impractical fashion choices, and it’s high time the fashion industry takes a step towards stitching the gap between style and function. We already love the styles, the colours, the cuts, and the diversity of women’s fashion. By making it practical and comfortable, the fashion industry will make life easier, equitable and more efficient for the modern woman!
