Inspiring Story Of A Meerut Boy’s Voluntary Relief Mission During Kerala Floods

While distributing relief material in Kerala.

Kerala floods were in the news for a long time. Many organisations like Goonj and Khalsa group, politicians, state government, business tycoons, and several other known personalities were also in the headlines for donating the required help.

A guy named Abhinav Gupta hailing from Meerut in West UP took charge to pull off a task similar to creating a sea of resources out of small glasses of empathy and help. He not only collected 4000 kgs of Aid in the form of rebuilding material and survival supply, but also went on to distribute it at different vantage points in the flood-affected areas.

His family was a major support for him and with the help of his college friend, Chandy Omen, he was able to distribute the material in those areas of Kerala where the relief aid hadn’t reached. It is very easy to like, comment, or share sympathy post on social media, but it takes immense courage to do things beyond your comfort zone. I am his friend, and it makes me proud to witness such an act from within my immediate circle.

If the youth can forget about the caste, state, religion and stand united against such an adversary, not just on social media but practically too, then I’m sure life will become easy.

Abhinav comes from Meerut, has studied in Pune and Bangalore, Aand is now working in Delhi. Through his friends in Kerala, he realised about the grave situation of the state and decided to go there and distribute all this help and aid. His college friend Alan, his brother and many more helped him to distribute the materials for those in need.

It came as a big lesson that we all should learn. We want such inspirational youths in our country. Motive should always be one, ‘help humanity’. #StandForYourNation #SaveHumanity
