We’re on the lookout for a enthusiastic content expert to assist the Publishing Editor at Youth Ki Awaaz in leading daily editorial and growth efforts at Youth Ki Awaaz. You’ll need to have a keen eye for what content works, and an appetite for latest news and social media trends, and be comfortable taking calls independently in a fast-paced work environment.
Job description:
To source, edit and publish user-generated stories on pertinent socio-political issues, culture, travel and more. You will be in charge of prompting young people to speak up on critical issues, editing and packaging stories, giving feedback to writers, cultivating a community of active writers through regular communication and publishing daily content packaged for a social audience. You will also be required to constantly communicate with the Programs team at Youth Ki Awaaz to ensure timely delivery of content requirements.
Primary tasks:
- Editing and publishing crowd-sourced content and content from our writers
- Generate prompts and story ideas, to help writers develop strong content on a regular basis
- Assist the Publishing Editor in managing and working with a group of weekly writers, and community and peer-to-peer editors
- Ensure content on the platform is of high quality, error-free and thoroughly fact-checked and in line with the Youth Ki Awaaz Community Guidelines
- Assist the Publishing Editor in user acquisition and cultivation for the growth of the platform
Skills and qualities required:
- Impeccable grammar, sharp editing skills and experience of 0-3 years at a digital publication
- Writing/blogging experience
- Experience of social media for personal or professional use will be an add-on
- Creative, unconventional and independent thinking
- Voracious reader of online content from various sources
- Ability to stay organized, meet deadlines, and work well in teams
- Passion for changing the world
- Ability to adapt to a changing media landscape and take on additional responsibilities, and lead efforts for platform growth independently
