JNUSU election 2018 is scheduled to take place on September 14. Like last year, AISA, SFI, and DSF have formed an alliance known as Left Unity. This year, AISF has also joined the alliance. Apart from the Left Unity, ABVP, BAPSA, and NSUI are the main contenders for the JNUSU main body which comprises of four posts: President, Vice President, General Secretary, and Joint Secretary. Here is a list of candidates from different parties along with key highlights from their agendas and demands.
ABVP

Main agenda and demands:
- Women Centric: operational sanitary napkins vending machines, covered disposable bins, more women security guards, clean and hygienic washrooms.
- Hostel Reforms: new hostels, upgrade facilities and amenities, transparent and swift allotment of rooms, hygienic and healthy food, and upgrade sports facilities.
- Roll back compulsory attendance, 90:10 ratio of written to viva voce in entrance examination, ensuring social justice in all aspects of campus life, demand for an increase in MCM non-NET fellowship, and establishing placement and internship cells in every school.
BAPSA

- Scrap UGC gazette, 100% viva-voce, compulsory attendance
- Fightback fees hike, seat cut, fine culture, Lyngdoh committee recommendation and implementation of reservation policy at all levels for SC/ST/OBC/PWD
- Enhance MCM, non-NET Fellowship, Number of RGNF, MANF, JRF
- Restore and strengthen GSCASH and fight for a gender just campus

- Fight for an inclusive and gender just campus: reverse seat cut, reclaim JNU’s inclusive policies in admissions, fight for scholarships and fellowships, save GSCASH, reject online admission test.
- Academic and Infrastructural: improving facilities for science students, new hostel constructions, 24/7 health centre, improve sports infrastructure, improve transport facilities, and improve mobile network and connectivity on campus.
- Save JNU from VC’s authoritarianism, justice for Najeeb, and solidarity with people’s movements.
NSUI

Gen. Secretary: Md. Moficaul Alam
Joint Secretary: Ngurang Reena
Main agenda and demands:
- Roll back mandatory attendance, scrapping MPM for viva in MPhil/PhD, fight against the privatisation of education and demand an increase in the amount of MCM and non-NET fellowship.
- Upgradation of university infrastructure like health centre, including better counselling facilities. More reading rooms in central library and school, an increase in the subscription of journals and scientific/statistical databases, and renovation of hostels.
- Restoration of GSCASH and scrapping of ICC and proper implementation of reservation norms in the university.
