It’s Unfortunate That Kerala Government Has Cancelled Youth Festivals

From 57th Kerala University Youth Festival

Youth festivals are not for jollification alone but are a pivotal part of academic activities to ensure the overall ( social, economic, cultural and political ) development of students. Hence, it must be organised this year also, at a minimum expenditure without being luxurious, considering the present situation of the state. Opportunities are essential for everyone to exhibit their intellectual and artistic talents, skills, and creativity. And undoubtedly, Kerala until today has always stood in the forefront to provide an unparalleled forum for the students to test their potential. This is one of the many reasons for Keralites to join the hashtag-line ‘#ProudToBeMalayali’ started by Dr Shashi Tharoor. Apart from giving students a ground to build their professional carriers in the field of culture, literature etc., such events provide a chance for constructing new comradeship.

“The Left Front government in power of the state should take bold steps to avoid the misuse of money of course, in some other ways. For example by reducing the number of advisors to Chief Minister, instead of cancelling the School and University Youth Festivals,” says Vishnu Mahesh, a former Kerala University Youth Festival winner (Quizzer).

According to popular opinion, the government has to take this as a challenge to prove the impeccable capability and strength of the state and its people to bounce back from the devastation of unprecedented floods by #RebuildingKerala better and safe.
