Kerala To Employ Women In Fire And Rescue Services

There are times like now – when the concept of a new India, shining India, and an India with gender equality has begun in our changing Bharat. Kerala State Cabinet’s well-thought-out decision to employ women in the Kerala State Fire and Rescue Services comes as a knock out of the park. What has not been initiated by other provinces has been announced by the Kerala state government.

Being a highly educated state, the enrollment of well-educated women in the fire brigade department is as great as the difference between compulsion and concurrence. All shall be well; at least, until the next wave of joy, confidence and practicality shoots up within that faction of women who will attempt to approach and join the newly created post.

Women’s enthusiasm to perform in a different deed will be executed consequentially. This will obviously bring a change in the social surroundings. This is a calculated effort to break gender stereotypes in the coastal state of Kerala. It is definitely for the first time the Kerala government gears up to appoint women as firefighters.

A decision in this regard was taken by the state cabinet which facilitates the administrative way to create the post of the fire women, as was recently reported. The purpose was just to boost the participation of women in various sectors. As many as 100 posts will be created.

The decision comes close on the wheels of the state’s LDF government creating an all-women battalion with 578 members including a 44-member commando team. It was one among the various initiatives to enhance women representation in the state police force. They will thus be attracted to count for winning the job.
