On March 2018, an event was organized by PICFA (Pondicherry India China friendship association ) in collaboration with INTACH Pondicherry , Govt. of Pondicherry , Tourism department , Chinese embassy of the peoples republic of China , New Delhi and Sri Aurobindo Ashram .
the event was to commemorate XuFancheng , as the cultural ambassador between India and China
Theme: The life and legacy of Chinese scholar, Indologist and Artist, Hu Hsu (Xu Fancheng), who lived in India from 1945 to 1978 and translated numerous Indian Classical texts, contemporary writings as well as the works of great modern philosophers such as Sri Aurobindo from Sanskrit and English into classical Chinese, and created about 300 paintings in the traditional Chinese style. He had the opportunity to study at Shantiniketan, and learn Indian philosophy and wisdom under Sri Aurobindo and Ms. Mirra Alfasa (the Mother).
His Excellency The Chinese ambassador to India Hon’ Luo Zhaohui was a student of Huhsu (Xu Fancheng ) . The symposium is dedicated in the memory of HuHsu (Xu Fancheng), it wishes to build a spiritual, art and cultural relation between India and China through the works of the great scholar and artist HuHsu.

Event Brief:
The symposium focused on connecting the Great scholar HuHsu as a Cultural Bridge between India and China. The International Speakers, focused their topic in different aspects of HuHsu life connected to Indo China relations .This was a Symposium, which provided future aspects in spiritual as well as Cultural and Heritage fields. This Event is dedicated on the memory of Hu Hsu as a symbol of the close cultural ties between India and China. Thanks to the tremendous work of Hu Hsu, many students and researchers in China today are able to gain a deeper understanding of India’s culture through his translations, essays and other original works.

The Event ceremonial session was inaugurated by His Exellency Luo Zhahohui, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Puducherry Shri V. Narayanasamy , Ambassador’s Wife Counselor Hon’ Jiang Yili , Shri. K. Lakshminarayanan Parliamentary secretary to Chief Minister Puducherry, Shri John Kumar special representative of the Puducherry administration in New Delhi, Prof. Huang Xinchuan and Mrs Radha Srinivasagopalane President of Pondicherry India – China friendship association.
Keynote address was delivered by H.E Luo Zhaohui, Honorable Ambassador of China to India and after his speech there was a Group Photo session (VIPs and Speakers).
A welcome note was given by Honorable Chief Minister of Puducherry Shri V. Narayanasamy , he talked about the importance of Cultural cooperation , Dali and Pondicherry friendship City cooperation ,importance of HuHsu in connecting India and China . Hon’ Chief Minister remembered his previous visits to China and extended his hands of friendship towards the peoples of China. He emphasized in developing Pondicherry as a tourism and cultural destination for Chinese visitors.
