Are Mobile Apps The New TV?

With the rapid growth of mobile phones as the most popular form of mass media, the day is not far when YouTube will become a one-stop destination for both entertainment and learning purposes. According to a survey it was also seen that the amount of people watching live cricket matches on mobile apps were more than those watching TV, which very clearly indicates people are gradually shifting from TV to mobile phones.

With Youtube becoming the hub for all kind of infotainment, YouTubers are in prominence. According to a Live Mint report, people with above 10,000 to 5,00,000 subscribers were considered as YouTube influencers, and were being hired by private companies for product promotion. According to another report YouTubers earned an amount of ₹20,000 to ₹1,00,000 for one video promoting a product.

With the kind of celebrity status YouTubers enjoy these days, that day is also not far when making YouTube videos will  be considered a viable profession. Many new courses focusing on video editing and other technical skills might also come up. With many TV channels like ETV also shifting to mobile app-based reporting, mobile phone might soon become a form of mass media. And this will be a major game changer .
