Little Surprises

I remember this one time when I was attending my class, and I was called out of the classroom by the principal’s assistant as my parents had come to take me home. I was uninformed about what was happening but was scared to ask them about it. ‘What if they send me back?’. So, when I reached home, I saw half-packed suitcases and duffle bags, and then I was told that we were going to my grandparents’ house. I was the happiest eight year old kid ever. I miss those days when half-packed suitcases and duffle bags made me happy because that meant travelling. It has been fifteen years since then, and half-packed suitcases and duffle bags still mean travelling, but they don’t make me happy anymore. I guess living way from home actually changes you.
