Poem: #MeToo

Speak up

You are walking on the street

And he suddenly catches your eyes

More like your bare legs

Thinking he can feast upon your thighs.

You try hiding your face

But it’s no use, he’s caught up with your pace

You face a million thoughts

Fight or flight?

You feel his grip getting tighter

And then a sudden jolt of pain

And then come the tears

Whether of remorse or of rage

You pushed him off as hard as you could

And ran as fast as your legs could take you

Ask yourself, ‘Is this a lone fight?

Do I know wrong from right?’

But those were the clothes of your choice

Don’t let them kill your pride

You are who you are

And there’s no shame in that

And it’s ok to ask for help

And it’s apparent to end up hurting

Opening up doesn’t come easy

But there’s no harm in trying

Shut your eyes and think for a while

Is this how you deserve to be treated?

Find your valor my dear, if you shy out now

You’re far too short sighted

Honey your tears are made of diamonds

Your skin shines like the sun

Your heart purely gold

Your will as strong as the ocean

I implore you, fight.

Your voice will save lives
