PDP, Congress, NC Alliance Stakes Claim To Form Govt In Jammu & Kashmir

Jammu & Kashmir has always been in news for its political instability over the years. Protests and violence are normal in the state of Jammu & Kashmir.

In 2015, PDP (Peoples Democratic Party) and BJP, parties with different ideologies came together and formed the government in the state. With constant friction this government lasted for only two years – as BJP pulled back its support. Since then, Jammu & Kashmir has been under Governor’s rule.

Recently, former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti wrote a letter to the governor about forming a government with the backing of National Conference (NC) and Congress. Longtime arch-rivals PDP, NC, and Congress have now come together to form a government in the state. However, the governor claimed that he didn’t receive any such letter as his fax was not working properly. The same day governor also dissolved the Assembly. He pointed out that since these parties have different ideologies, they would be unable to provide a stable government.

When this news broke into media, the politicians began their blame game. Ram Madhav accused Omar Abdullah’s National Conference of following instructions from Pakistan. NC retaliated by calling the governor’s move unconstitutional. They have also accused BJP of misusing their position of power and influencing governor’s decision.

In this issue, every single party is trying to gain the maximum mileage they can. Instead of constructive criticism, slandering and false allegations are being made. None of the parties are showing the political will to provide stability in the state.
